From October 22 to 25, 2024, Dr. Kemachart Kemavuthanon, Assistant Dean of the School of Applied Digital Technology and member of the Circular Economy Research Center (CEWT), along with Ms.Pattayaporn Unroj, Head of CEWT, were invited by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) to serve as mentors and advisors on community-based waste management. This initiative, spearheaded by the Hong Ngao Subdistrict Administrative Organization in Mueang District, Ranong Province, utilized an integrated waste management model marked by color-coded flags—a methodology previously implemented successfully in Mae Kham Subdistrict Municipality, Chiang Rai Province. In developing this knowledge prototype, the research team incorporated lessons and effective practices from Wiang Thoeng Subdistrict Municipality's waste reduction and segregation initiatives, emphasizing community participation. This effort is part of the Strategic Research Project (Strategic Fund; SF), supporting knowledge management (KM 65). Future discussions aim to enhance cooperation and introduce advanced waste management technologies to strengthen community standards and foster sustainable socio-economic and environmental impacts.
