On September 14-15 and 21-22, 2024, the Office of Information Technology at Mae Fah Luang University, in collaboration with the Computer and Communication Engineering for Capacity Building Research Center (CCC) and Asia University, Taiwan, organized the "Joint International Workshop and Competition 2024 on Augmented Reality & AI."

This project aimed to provide knowledge and training in the application of current virtual world technologies, as well as the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in real-world contexts, including higher education, the arts, and culture. The workshop included practical sessions, focusing on the development of 3D objects using Generative AI, the creation of 2D and 3D images, and the use of Meta Spark Studio to build augmented reality (AR) applications from these 3D objects for real-world implementation.

The event featured distinguished speakers from Thailand, including Dr. Yootthapong Tongpaeng and Dr. Kemachart Kemavuthanon, experts in Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), and Mixed Reality (MR) development, and Dr. Pruet Putjorn, an expert in AI. From Taiwan, the event was honored by Prof. Chia-Han Lin (林佳漢), an expert in Generative AI, multimedia databases, video processing, database management, and streaming data management. The training was conducted in a hybrid format, with in-person sessions at Mae Fah Luang University’s laboratory for students in Thailand, and online sessions for students in Taiwan. This allowed participants from both countries to engage simultaneously in the training and activities. The event received a positive response from first- and second-year students from both universities, with high levels of interest and active participation.
